New Starts for Children Born in 2013
Hi, if you have landed on this page you may be looking for more information about your child joining Peebles FC. Children starting school this year and born in 2012 (year of birth is important) are welcome to come along to the Friday night sessions which will start on the first Friday 24 August 2018 the first Friday the week the schools re-open. The sessions will run from 6pm to 7pm at Whitestone Park. For the first few weeks the sessions will be run by experienced coaches from other age groups. But we are reliant on mums and dads volunteering their time to run the squads and take the sessions. This can seem quite daunting at first but you will not be alone. Ideally we get 5 or 6 coaches signed up (or more) so you will learn together. The club will support you to take SFA qualifications. At least one coach will also be required to undertake an approved first aid course unless you have an appropriate qualification. All our volunteers also have to undertake disclosure but again the club and our child protection officer will take you through all that.
Once the administration is out of the way you can start to think about coaching the kids. This is mostly fun and ultimately very rewarding as you see your children develop not just their footballing skills but other skills and attributes.
By the way you do not have to be an ex-player to be a great coach. Having some knowledge of the game can be useful but if you are committed and enthusiastic and willing to learn as you go, you can maybe be the next Gaurdiola?
If you want to help out in any way please get in contact, either at the Friday evening training or ideally before by contacting the club via email.
